Dr. Susan Fischer

A native of Maine, Dr. Susan E. Fischer is a highly accomplished optometrist with advanced expertise in ocular disease and glaucoma management. She graduated as valedictorian from the SUNY College of Optometry in New York City and completed a competitive residency in Ocular Disease and Glaucoma, where she received advanced clinical training in diagnosing and treating complex eye conditions.

Dr. Fischer provides comprehensive eye care for patients of all ages, including routine eye exams, contact lens fittings, and the management of conditions such as glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and macular degeneration. She is known for her patient-centered approach, clinical precision, and dedication to long-term eye health.

Now proud to serve the Deerfield community, Dr. Fischer brings both compassion and excellence to her practice. Outside the office, she enjoys singing with a local band, spending time with her horses, and growing dahlias.

Dr. Shirlie Dowd

Dr. Shirlie Dowd Herbst is a New Hampshire native who is proud to serve her local community with compassionate, comprehensive eye care. She began her education at Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts, and went on to earn her degree in Biochemistry from Union College in Schenectady, New York. She received her Doctor of Optometry degree from the New England College of Optometry in Boston in 2005.

After practicing in Manhattan for four years, Dr. Dowd returned home to New Hampshire, where she provides personalized eye care for patients of all ages. She is dedicated to helping each patient achieve and maintain optimal eye health through thorough exams, clear communication, and individualized treatment plans.

Dr. Dowd has a long-standing commitment to service and has volunteered her optometric skills in underserved communities across the globe, including in Mexico, Nicaragua, Thailand, China, the Philippines, Peru, and on a Native American reservation in North Dakota.

Today, she focuses her time on caring for her patients and her family. She lives in Hooksett, New Hampshire, with her husband, their two daughters, and her father. In her free time, she enjoys baking and spending time with her family.
